ReFurnishings’ Thrift & Flip Returns with HGTV Winner and a

Growing Community Mission

RAVENA, NY — Justice For Orphans (JFO) is proud to announce the return of its 2nd Annual

ReFurnishings’ Thrift & Flip Fundraiser, a creative, community-powered fundraiser that

transforms thrifted furniture into works of art—while transforming lives in the process.

The event will culminate in a public reception and auction on Friday, April 24, 2026, from

6:00–8:30 PM at The Wire Event Center in Coxsackie.

This year’s challenge features special guest sustainability & design partner, Sarah Trop,

winner of HGTV's Flea Market Flip and founder of FunCycled. Trop will join local artists,

DIYers, and furniture enthusiasts in reimagining donated pieces for the competition.

Blending Creativity, Sustainability, and Compassion

The Thrift & Flip Challenge invites participants to select thrifted furniture and décor from

ReFurnishings and transform them over several weeks into unique, high-quality pieces. Each

project is then displayed and auctioned to raise funds for Justice for Orphans’ programs

serving vulnerable children and families.

The event reflects the heart of ReFurnishings, the nonprofit thrift store that supports JFO’s

mission while promoting reuse, creativity, and community engagement.

“Last year, we were inspired by what our community created,” said Sandra Flach, founder of

Justice for Orphans. “But more importantly, we are moved by why they create. This event isn’t

just about furniture—it’s about restoring dignity, stability, and hope for children and families in

crisis.”

How the Challenge Works

• Selection Day: March 14, 2026, | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Participants choose their furniture pieces at ReFurnishings in Ravena.

• Transformation Period:

Flippers spend several weeks restoring and reinventing their items while documenting

their progress.

• Public Display: April 11–23, 2026

Completed projects will be on display at ReFurnishings, 2484 Route 9W, Ravena.

• Final Event & Auction: April 24, 2026

Guests attend the reception, meet the artists, vote in “Best Of” categories, and bid in

the silent auction.

The reception will feature hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and opportunities to purchase one-of-akind

furniture and décor—all while supporting local families.

Community Impact

Proceeds from the Thrift & Flip Fundraiser advance Justice for Orphans’ mission through

initiatives including CarePortal, ReFurnishings, and the Adoption & Foster Care Journey—

providing practical resources, family support, and long-term stability for children and families in

need.

Through partnerships with churches, agencies, businesses, and volunteers, JFO continues to

mobilize community resources to meet real needs in tangible ways.
